The typical MSP operates using a break/fix model: when something breaks, they will put a temporary fix on the problem. Often this leads to future issues and breaks and creates a consistently reactive model. Additionally, each person at these providers are typically responsible for multiple tasks and business areas, which means they are often overwhelmed and unable to become an expert in any one area.
At TAG Solutions, we handle things differently. We have a proactive approach as an MSP, so that we can prevent problems before they happen, instead of racing to fix something after it’s broken. We also utilize 5 Delivery Areas when working with our customers, which ensure that everyone at TAG is an expert in what they do:
Our Centralized Services team are the ones are the forefront, ensuring that proactive measures are being taken to avoid any surprises or problems in the future. The experts in this area spend their time patching, updating, and ensuring that our customer’s hardware is stable and running the way it should be, which means fewer customer calls to our Support Desk. Additionally, they are the first line of defense whenever a new threat or challenge emerges that could impact our customer’s IT infrastructure to ensure minimal, if any, business interruption.
The experts at the Support Desk have exceptional communication skills, and they are able to help our customers resolve any issues they might have, such as password resets, software issues, hardware malfunctions, and anything else to ensure that they can get back to work as quickly as possible. With our tiered support structure, our customers know that there is always someone skilled and knowledgeable in whatever their problems might be, and that we will strive to ensure a quick and painless resolution to avoid any downtime.
Our professional services team include the people that will often come to your business in person. These technicians are the ones who do the on-site work like server installation, migrations, computer setup and decommissioning, Wi-Fi setup and connectivity, and connection to other hardware. They are experts in the unique setup at each customer’s location and are able to quickly respond to any issues that might arise. Additionally, they are able to help walk our customers through any hardware or software changes or upgrades.
This facet of TAG Solutions are the people who will go into an organization and get to know every single aspect of the existing technology setup. Our TAM, or Technology Alignment Manager, will perform an inspection using more than 500 standards from our standards library for every single assessment, looking for things like technology that might be end of life, upgrades that can make the business run better, drives and other hardware that could potentially fail, and any other areas of concern or aspects of the IT environment that don’t align with our IT best practices. Once this inspection is done, the TAM will identify the key areas of concern and give them to our Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) to make final recommendations on what should be done.
The vCIO is the person that sits down at the strategic table with key decision makers to align our technology recommendations with our customer’s business goals. They work with our customer’s team to create strategic roadmaps that align with the company’s goals, and ensure there are no surprises in the present, and 1/3/5 years down the line. They will ensure that the technology is there to support and grow with our customer’s initiatives and set them up for current and continued success.

4 THINGS WE DO BETTER…
Instead of operating in a reactive (break/fix) model, where we only respond when something breaks, we make sure everything is secured proactively so that the chance of network downtime is eliminated, and companies can stay up and running. If issues do arise, we work to resolve them as quickly as possible, but with guaranteed outcomes, those moments of downtime should be eliminated.
Expertise and Experience
Everyone at TAG Solutions is an expert in their specific job area. We don’t expect our employees to operate in a variety of departments because we want to ensure that everyone our customers interact with is the best possible person to assist them. No matter what our customers need, we want to ensure that we have the best expert for the job.
Processes and Procedures
We have very specific processes and roadmaps that guide every aspect of our organization. We perform a 700-point inspection at every customer location and use that data to develop a technology plan to fits every customer’s needs. Our TAM will make recommendations to bring all aspects of our customer’s IT infrastructure up to date, reliable, and secure.
We also offer a strategic partnership not only through our TAM, but by giving our vCIO a seat at the table. Most SMB cannot afford to hire a full-time vCIO, but there is still a need for one to create and implement strategic roadmaps and plans for 1/3/5 years down the road. We want to make sure our customers aren’t just set up for success right now, but that they are set up with technology that will continue to grow with their business.
